It began as Sunbelt Software's antivirus in Florida, was acquired with Sunbelt by GFI Software in 2010, moved with GFI's split into the ownership of J2 Global — later Ziff Davis — and was sold again in 2022 to the investment firm Inflexion, since when it has traded as VIPRE Security Group.
