Panda Security, S.L.

Panda Security was founded in 1990 in Bilbao by Mikel Urizarbarrena and was for two decades the largest security company in Spain. It was an early mover in two things that later became standard: scanning in the cloud rather than on the machine, and an endpoint model that classifies every running process rather than only the files it recognises as bad. It is no longer independent. WatchGuard Technologies bought it in 2020, and the site now describes Panda as a WatchGuard Technologies brand. The consumer products kept the Panda name; the business products were absorbed into WatchGuard's range, which is why this index lists Panda Adaptive Defense 360 alongside WatchGuard EPDR and WatchGuard EDR — closely related technology under two brands. Households buy the Panda Dome range: Panda Dome Free, Panda Dome Essential, Panda Dome Advanced, Panda Dome Complete and Panda Dome Premium, with Panda Dome Family, Panda Dome for Android, Panda Dome VPN and Panda Dome Password Manager beside them. Panda Cleanup and Panda Cloud Cleaner are its clean-up tools.
