Allied Telesis Holdings K.K.

Vendor

Allied Telesis is a Japanese networking manufacturer founded in 1987, selling switches, routers and wireless equipment to enterprises, public bodies and telecommunications operators, with a particular presence in Japan and in education and government networks elsewhere. Its security products are integrated into that equipment rather than sold apart from it. The AR-Series are its routers with unified threat management built in — firewall, VPN, web filtering, intrusion prevention and antivirus in the branch router itself, using licensed third-party detection — which suits the small and medium sites its customers operate. That integration is the point: one box and one supplier for the branch. As network equipment it is assessed by interoperability and procurement testing rather than by the malware laboratories, and the detection inside it belongs to whichever engine is licensed.
