Vendor

UserGate is a Russian network security manufacturer whose business has been shaped by policy: as Western vendors withdrew from Russia and import-substitution rules took hold, domestic firewalls became a requirement rather than a preference, and UserGate is one of the main suppliers meeting it. Its products are registered in the Russian software registry that state buyers must purchase from. Its range is built on its own operating system: UserGate NGFW as the next-generation firewall, UserGate Data Center Firewall (DCFW) for high-throughput sites, with log analysis, endpoint protection and a security management centre around them, sold as appliances and virtual machines. For readers outside Russia this is essentially a closed market: the products are not sold or tested in the West, and their absence from the laboratory columns here reflects that rather than any measured shortfall.
