Product

BitMedic AntiVirus is a macOS antivirus app from Pocket Bits, distributed through the Mac App Store, that scans for malware and includes adware protection. Open BitMedic, click Quick Scan, and let it find anything that shouldn't be there. BitMedic combines a sleek graphic design with very practical, easy to use controls. Threats blocked the moment they appear — not after the damage is done. Supported platforms are macOS.

Vendor

PocketBits is a small American software studio that has been building Mac and iOS applications since 2014. Security is one part of a catalogue of consumer utilities rather than the company's whole business. BitMedic AntiVirus, the product listed here, is its macOS malware scanner, sold through the Mac App Store to individual users. Being distributed that way constrains what it can do: applications in the App Store run inside Apple's sandbox and cannot install the kernel or system extensions that a conventional real-time scanner relies on, so an App Store antivirus is closer to an on-demand scanner than to a full endpoint agent. It is a very small product by the standards of this index, is not entered into the independent laboratory cycles, and should be read as a consumer utility rather than as a competitor to the managed Mac security products listed here.
