Vendor

MicroWorld began operations in 1993 under Govind Rammurthy, incorporated in the United States with its engineering and support centred in India. It sells almost entirely through channel partners rather than retail shelves, which is why the name on the product — eScan — is better known than the name of the company that makes it. Two brands sit under MicroWorld: eScan for anti-malware and content security, and Nemasis for vulnerability assessment. Home and small-office users buy eScan Anti-Virus, eScan Internet Security Suite, eScan Total Security Suite and eScan Universal Security Suite, with eScan Anti-Virus Security for Mac and eScan Mobile Security for Android alongside them. Businesses buy eScan Corporate Edition, eScan Elite for Business, eScan Internet Security Suite for Business and eScan Total Security Suite for Business, with eScan Enterprise EDR and eScan Vision Core XDR above those, and eScan Enterprise DLP and eScan Enterprise Mobility Management as separate lines. MailScan is its secure email gateway. The range is unusually wide for a vendor of this size, and the tiers differ mainly in which modules are bundled rather than in the detection engine underneath them. Vendor page →
