The difference is a built-in privacy and cleaning toolset—you have to purchase this separately when using other Mac anti-malware apps. The Apple notary service is an automated system that scans your software for malicious content. It runs on macOS.

Clario Tech publishes MacKeeper, one of the best-known and most argued-about Mac utilities, along with the Clario consumer security application for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. MacKeeper's history is worth knowing. Under earlier owners it became notorious for aggressive advertising and for a class action that was settled in 2015 with refunds to purchasers; the product changed hands afterwards and its current publisher has rebuilt it around antivirus, VPN, adware cleanup and privacy tools. Reputations of that kind outlast the ownership that earned them, and a reader comparing it here should separate the current product from the history attached to its name.
