Kingsoft is one of China's oldest software companies, founded in 1988 and listed in Hong Kong, and today it is known mainly for WPS Office, its games business and Kingsoft Cloud rather than for security. Its antivirus, 金山毒霸 (Kingsoft Antivirus), was one of the standard Chinese security products of the 1990s and 2000s and was made free in 2010 in response to the same competitive shift that reshaped the rest of that market. The internet security business was later combined with another company and spun out as Cheetah Mobile, which took the consumer security products with it, though products continue to carry the Kingsoft name, including the enterprise edition 金山毒霸团队版.
