Vendor

Juniper Networks was founded in 1996 and built its business on high-performance routing for carrier networks, where it has long been one of the few genuine alternatives to Cisco. Security is a substantial line within that rather than the company's purpose. Its firewalls are the SRX Series, which came out of its 2004 acquisition of NetScreen — the company several other firewall vendors in this index also descend from — with vSRX as the virtual machine edition and cSRX as the container version for Kubernetes environments. Juniper Security Director manages them and its threat prevention services supply the detection. Hewlett Packard Enterprise completed its acquisition of Juniper in 2025, so the supplier relationship now runs through HPE. As a network vendor, Juniper is measured by throughput and interoperability testing rather than by the malware laboratories whose results populate much of this index. Vendor page →
