Vendor

F-Secure is the consumer half of a company that split in two. Founded in Helsinki in 1988 as Data Fellows, it spent three decades selling to households and organisations alike; in 2022 it demerged, the business products leaving as WithSecure and F-Secure keeping the consumer range and the name. Both companies appear in this index and neither owns the other. What it sells now is protection for individuals and families: F-Secure Total as the full bundle, with F-Secure Internet Security, F-Secure VPN, F-Secure ID Protection and F-Secure Scam Protection available within or beside it, and free tools including F-Secure Online Scanner, F-Secure Link Checker and a deepfake detector. It says it reaches more than 30 million people. A large share of that reach comes through operators rather than shops: F-Secure has long sold its protection through internet providers and mobile carriers who bundle it with a subscription, so many of its users acquired it with their broadband rather than by choosing it. That, and the 35-year engine lineage it shares with WithSecure, are the two things worth knowing when reading its results here. Vendor page →
