Vendor

Comodo Security Solutions sells endpoint and gateway security from Bloomfield, New Jersey. The wider Comodo business was founded in 1998 by Melih Abdulhayoğlu and was for years better known for something else entirely — issuing TLS certificates — a business sold in 2017 and now trading as Sectigo. What remained kept the Comodo name on the security products. Its distinguishing technique is containment rather than classification. Instead of deciding whether an unknown file is malicious, Comodo runs it in an isolated container where it cannot reach the real system, and lets it prove itself; the company brands this auto-containment and ZeroDwell Containment. It is a genuinely different answer to the unknown-file problem from the detection-and-score model most of this index is built on, and it is why Comodo's results in comparative tests can look unlike its neighbours'. Products include Comodo Internet Security and Comodo Antivirus for households, and Comodo Client Security, Comodo Advanced Endpoint Protection, Comodo Secure Internet Gateway and Comodo Secure Email Gateway for organisations. The enterprise platform was rebranded Xcitium in 2022 and is listed separately in this index. Vendor page →
